WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – A Warwick resident is proving anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Nicholas Votolato was born with a rare genetic disorder where he is missing his 18th chromosome.

He struggled to find a job because of his disability. So, he took classes at the state’s Developmental Disabilities Council and learned how to start his own business.

Votolato used his love of the arts to create the company “Rock Solid Creations.” He makes a variety of items out of cement– from dog bowls to wall art.

“I’ve known Nic since we were very young. Through this whole processive I’ve seen him grow so much. His confidence has grown immensely and he’s really proud of himself for being able to accomplish this,” said Emily Zuffoletti, Votolato’s friend and aide.

He sells his art all over the state, including at the coffee shop Red, White, and Brew in North Smithfield. That shop is run by Michael Coyne, who has autism. He uses his business to supports others with disabilities.

“I feel happy and excited,” said Votolato.

Votolato will also be selling his creations at the Gaspee Days Arts and Crafts Festival in Pawtuxet Village throughout Memorial Day weekend.
