MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — A fire that closed part of Otis Street Thursday afternoon left four families out of their home.

The Mansfield Fire Department said a call was received around 4:30 p.m. from a resident having electrical problems with their stove who smelled smoke from their basement.

Crews responding found black smoke coming from the rear of the building, and the fire took 20 minutes and mutual aid from six other departments to put out.

The department said there were no injuries, but six adults and five children were displaced due to damage on the first floor and basement.

The Red Cross is assisting the families.
