Market Basket Opens First Rhode Island Store

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – A first for Rhode Island, but certainly not a first for New England!

A New England staple made its debut in Warwick Friday.  The new Market Basket is located on Pace Boulevard.

The Massachusetts-based grocer welcomed customers to its first store in the state Friday morning.

The new 89,000 square foot store features Market Basket’s most popular layout.  Managers tell ABC6 there will be a Rhode Island twist to its new store, with popular local products for sale.

With the store’s opening comes 350 new jobs.
