Mass. State Police trainee rushed to hospital

NEW BRAINTREE, Mass. (WLNE) — A Massachusetts State Police trainee was rushed to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself.
State police said it happened Wednesday morning during training.
The trainee attempted to self-discharge his firearm during an exercise at the academy range before being shot in the leg.
He suffered minor injuries and was treated at UMass Medical Center.
Police said he was released and re-joined his classmates at the State Police Academy in New Braintree.
