BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — TheMassachusetts Democratic State Committee and the Rhode Island Democratic Delegation voted to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President.
In a virtual meeting on Wednesday, the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee voted unanimously to endorse the vice president as the Democratic nominee.
“The message is clear: there is resounding support for Vice President Harris from Democrats here in Massachusetts and around the country. Our Party is united, energized, and ready to defeat Donald Trump and J.D. Vance this November,” said Steve Kerrigan, Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party.
Harris has already been endorsed this week by Governor Maura Healey, Massachusetts Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren, and by members of the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation.
The Rhode Island Democratic Delegation also did the same.
In a statement, Chairwoman Liz Beretta-Perik said that Harris had demonstrated for the generation that she has the power and strength to offer the renewal the country needs “so desperately in our history.”
“Kamala Harris already embodies the hopes of many Americans who have been bewildered by the efforts of some to turn back the block in America. For women who have worried about the erosion of their rights, or our working families who have worried about their economic future, or our young people who have not seen leaders who are reflections of themselves – Harris is now their voice,” she said.
“In less than 26 days, the Rhode Island Delegation will be in Chicago for the most historic convention of our lifetime, and we are ready to nominate the first woman President of the United States,” she added.
