Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation says rainfall lowers brush fire ignition chance

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation said that the almost two inches of rain the state received has helped lower ignition chances for brush fires after weeks of red flag warnings.
The department said the rain is not a “drought buster” but is “significant.”
Friday was also the first 24-hour period without a new fire in 30 days.
