Massachusetts man accused of giving girlfriend abortion pill without her knowledge

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A Massachusetts man is facing charges for allegedly giving his girlfriend an abortion pill without her knowledge.

43-year-old Robert Kawada was in court Tuesday on poisoning and assault charges.

Police say he told the woman he was giving her iron pills and vitamins but was actually giving her what is believed to be misoprostol, a drug known to induce abortions.

The woman had a miscarriage after taking the medication.
