Massachusetts man arrested for soliciting a minor in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — A man from Wareham, MA was arrested Thursday for alleged solicitation of a minor after a traffic stop by Portsmouth detectives.

John Magee, 28, is charged with indecent solicitation of a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and weapons other than firearms.

Police investigation found that Magee had traveled to Portsmouth to engage in sexual activity with a female juvenile and to provide her with marijuana.

Magee was found inside his vehicle near Portsmouth Plaza and detectives say they found several knives, marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Magee was arraigned at Second Division Court and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
