Massachusetts man charged with robbing 80-year-old man

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) – A Massachusetts man was arrested Thursday on multiple charges after stealing from an elderly man at Twin River Casino.
Lincoln police were called to Twin River Casino for reports of a robbery incident.
Upon arrival, police found an 80-year-old victim suffering from non-threatening injuries.
According to police, 21-year-old Richard Settipane, of North Reading, Mass., asked the victim for a cigarette before stealing $600 cash out of the victim’s hand and knocking him over. Settipane attempted to flee with the stolen cash but was apprehended by security and police a short time later.
Police recovered $590 cash from Settipane’s person as well as a bag containing a white powdery substance.
The victim was treated for his injuries on scene.
Settipane was arraigned on charges of 1st Degree Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.
He was transported to the ACI in Cranston following the arraignment.
