Massachusetts RMV warns citizens of text phishing scams

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles said citizens should be aware of text phishing scams.

The RMV said it does not send unsolicited requests for personal information or contact information over text, and will only send a text if a customer initiates a request or transaction.

The scam alert calls for everyone to ignore suspicious links, and avoid giving out personal information.
