Massachusetts special education teacher accused of assaulting student

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — A special education teacher in Bridgewater is now facing assault charges against one of her students.

The Massachusetts district attorney says 56-year-old Kathryn Rousseau was arraigned in court Tuesday on three counts of assault and battery against a person with intellectual disabilities.

Rousseau was a special education preschool teacher for 18 years at Mitchell Elementary School, but she’s since been placed on administrative leave.

The DA says Rousseau is accused of grabbing a student’s mouth with her hand to force feed them, leaving a mark on the child’s lip.

She will be back in court on May 14th.
