Massachusetts state representative charged with drunk driving apologizes for his ‘egregious lapse in judgment’

WORCESTER, Mass. (WLNE) — A Massachusetts state representative who was charged with drunk driving Wednesday is apologizing for to his “egregious lapse in judgment.”
Rep. David LeBoeuf was pulled over Wednesday and charged with DUI, after police said his blood alcohol level was four times the state’s legal limit.
In a three part tweet, LeBoeuf — who represents Worcester — wrote that he’s thankful no one was hurt and that he’s going to work “extensively” to rebuild people’s trust.
“I struggle with addiction and am committed to getting the treatment necessary so that I can be my best self again,” the representative wrote Thursday.
He continued to say that he’s tried manage his sobriety on his own, but his arrest was a “wake-up call that I need further support.”
Wednesday, after receiving multiple calls about an erratic driver on 93 south in Milton, Massachusetts State Police pulled LeBoeuf over.
They said the representative failed the standardized sobriety test, and was “extremely unsteady on his feet.”
“I ask that you respect my family’s privacy so I can work on my recovery and continue to provide services to my district,” LeBoeuf wrote.
