Massachusetts veteran facing child pornography charges flees U.S., joins Russian army
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Massachusetts Air Force veteran facing child porn charges has fled the country and is joining Russia’s army, according to his lawyer.
28-year-old Wilmer Puello Mota was expected to enter a guilty plea in a Rhode Island court back in January, but never showed up to his hearing.
Last week, video surfaced of him appearing to be in Siberia signing military documents and showing support for Russia in their war against Ukraine.
Officials believe its an attempt to get out of registering as a sex offender.
