MassDOT cautions drivers as rain continues throughout the day
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is cautioning drivers who plan to travel during Saturday’s rain storm.
MassDOT said drivers should use caution when driving, especially at night as rain may mix with snow.
“Hydroplaning is one road hazard drivers may encounter, which occurs when a vehicle is traveling into a film of water and the vehicle’s tires lose their grip on the pavement, leading to difficulty with braking and steering,” the department said.
Freezing rain is expected in the central and western parts of the state as the storm pushes offshore.
A flood watch has been put into effect throughout Southern New England for the storm, which is expected to taper off Sunday morning.
