MassDOT work to close off several streets in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Workers with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation are finishing up demolition work on an old pedestrian bridge along Route 18 in New Bedford.

There will be road closures to accommodate that.

The southbound side of Route 18 at Purchase Street is now open.

Overnight, traffic was being diverted on to Purchase Street.

The northbound lane is also open on both lanes.

Tuesday, Route 18 northbound at Route 6 for Mill Street and Hillman Street and Acushnet Avenue will be closed for work between the hours of 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.
