A rally was held at the Statehouse today to get rid of straight ticket voting or the master lever as many people know it.

Protesters are urging Senate President Paiva Weed to move forward and release the Master Lever bill to the full senate for an up or down vote.

The bill passed the house unanimously earlier this month.

“The senate as the opportunity to tell the business both inside and out of Rhode Island that we have a transparent government, and that we’re open for business,” says RI Candidate for Governor Ken Block.

Rhode Island is one of fourteen states that still allow straight ticket voting.
