Fall River, MA,   The Mayor of Fall River has apologized for an error in sending out unpaid trash fee bills.

Final notices were sent out in error to 6000 properties, totaling approximately $1.1 million in unpaid trash fees to the city.  The Mayor said a mistake was made in compiling the list and, as a result, many property owners who had already paid their fees in full received final payment notices.

Mayor Correia released a statement today saying, “I sincerely apologize for any offense people have taken at receiving this notice in error.  I know right now errors were made.  I am actively investigating this matter to ensure that something like this does not happen in the future and we are putting process in place to help resolve individual problems.”

The city has set up a hotline for those who believe they have received the notice in error.  Callers are asked to provide their contact information along with parcel numbers, if available.  The number to call is 508-324-2425.
