Elorza, education officials to break ground on new learning center in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Jorge Elorza will attend a brief ceremony Wednesday morning to break ground on the new learning center in Providence.

Rhode Island Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green, Providence Public School Superintendent Javier Montañez, and community members will also attend the 11 a.m. event.

After fighting for the renovations, the Windmill Street School will undergo construction and be renamed the school the “Narducci Learning Center.” The learning center is named after Councilman Nicholas Narducci.

Renovations to the 80-year-old school will cost $30.5 million, with plans to re-open in the fall of this year.
