Mayor Elorza seeks Providence School Board Applicants

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Mayor Elorza publicized today that the Providence School Board Nominating Commission is looking for candidates for the Providence School Board.
“Serving on the school board provides an opportunity for community members to be deeply involved in the success of Providence Schools,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “I encourage anyone who is committed to improving outcomes for our youth and supporting PPSD families to apply today.”
The board makes guidelines for their Superintendent how to operate and administrate the schools, keeping check on their progress while engaging the community. Each term is only 3 years, with this year’s applicants starting in 2022 and ending in 2025. School Board members are allowed to apply for reappointment if their term is expiring.
The application deadline is Friday, December 10 at 4:30 p.m., with the job description and application found online here. The School Board Nominating Commission will also be holding a public forum Tuesday, December 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Providence Career and Technical Academy (PCTA). Once all sets are completed in the application process, the Committee will give their advice to The Mayor and the nominees will be reviewed by the City Council.
