MBTA: Fare gates activated at Boston’s South Station

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said fare gates at South Station in Boston were activated on Tuesday.
According to the MBTA, riders now must have a valid ticket or pass to board or exit South Station’s track area.
Effective today, Tuesday, December 30 fare gates at South Station are officially in use️
Valid ticket or pass is required for BOARDING AND EXITING the track area.
Wait until track is announced to enter the track area.

The gates will not accept payments from contactless cards or mobile wallets.
