BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said service was temporarily suspended on the Providence/Stoughton commuter rail line while fire crews responded to Hyde Park Station Monday.

The inbound and outbound lines were both impacted Monday afternoon when overhead wires caught fire.

The Boston Fire Department said the fire is believed to have been caused by the weather.

Amtrak Northeast said MBTA service was partially restored around 5:30 p.m.

The MBTA announced that service was back to normal around 8:30 p.m., but said commuters may continue to experience residual delays on both lines.
