MBTA warns of possible slowdowns due to overheated tracks

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — As southern New England enters a heat advisory, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority said extreme heat could cause delays on the rails.

If tracks get too hot, slowdowns will be issued.

The MBTA has attached temperature monitors to rails to find the exact spots where speed restrictions would be needed and avoid widespread slowdowns.
