McKee administration, Mayor DaSilva, Dr. McDonald distribute at-home COVID tests followed by COVID-19 briefing
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Governor McKee, Lieutenant Governor Matos, East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva, and interim Department of Health Director Dr. James McDonald visited the East Providence Parkway Towers to distribute at-home COVID-19 testing kits.
The event was also the setting for a COVID-19 briefing with the officials taking questions from the media.
Governor McKee announced that Rhode Island has received an additional 500,000 at-home rapid tests, with 1 million tests being distributed in over a month.
These tests will be made available to cities, towns, and community organizations over the next week. Thirty percent of the 500,000 being given to community-based organizations to redistribute locally.
“Our whole of government COVID response team is focused on making it more convenient for Rhode Islanders to get tested when they need to,” said Governor McKee. “Our team remains committed to working closely with municipal leaders and community partners to ensure a strong pandemic response and recovery.”
