McKee says Rhode Island Energy outage response ‘unacceptable’

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee said that his team met with representatives from Rhode Island Energy to address their response to power outages caused by a storm on July 3.

McKee said that the issues with the company’s communications and systems during the outage were “unacceptable,” and that he asked for a full review of all systems.

The governor also said that, as of 12:45 p.m. Friday, 20,000 customers were still without power and 100 additional crews were dispatched to resolve the issues.
