McKee to announce finalists for rebuilding the Washington Bridge
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Governor Dan McKee will be joining the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to announce the shortlist of two of companies that will compete for the contract to rebuild the Washington Bridge today.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation had initiated a two-step procurement process for the replacement of the bridge this time, after no companies submitted bids for reconstruction.
Back in October, RIDOT announced the new reconstruction procurement, and said the process is preferred by the majority of companies, beginning with the state issuing a request for qualifications, a solicitation that asks interested bidders to submit “key criteria.”
The companies that responded included:
- American Bridge MLJ — A Joint Venture
- Halmar International LLC
- Skanska – Aetna Joint Venture
- Walsh Construction Company II, LLC
The RFQ would result in a shortlist of two qualified design-build companies that would move on to compete for the contract to build the bridge.
McKee is set to make that announcement at 10 a.m. this morning at the Rhode Island State House.
