PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee will announce a new traffic pattern aimed at improving travel time on I-95 and loosening congestion leading up to the Washington Bridge.

The announcement will be made at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, with Senior Deputy Chief of Staff Joseph Almond, and RIDOT Director Peter Alviti, Jr. also in attendance.

The westbound side of the Washington Bridge has been closed since December 11, 2023, leading to heavy traffic backup after two lanes of the eastbound side of the bridge were utilized to serve westbound traffic.

ABC6 will live stream the press conference starting at 1:30 p.m.
