PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee will deliver his 2024 State of the State address on Tuesday night.

McKee released a video highlighting the main priorities that he will elaborate on, including housing, education, and the economy.

“As a former basketball coach – I’ve always believed we can succeed if we work as one team,” McKee said.

“Every single day, I’m proud to be the governor of Rhode Island and I’m even more proud of the progress we’ve made together. My 2024 State of the State is about our team – the home team – Rhode Islanders across the state who are doing the work to ensure we reach our fullest potential,” he said.

He said his administration has been working on investments that are creating jobs for Rhode Islanders.

The municipal road program has opened employment opportunities while working to fix 421 miles of local roads.

McKee said his administration is mobilizing his Learn365RI coalition while continuing to build new and technologically advanced schools.

One of the goals of the program is to reach Massachusetts levels in student learning outcomes by 2030.

“Our economic comeback is being fueled by projects like our new State Health Lab in Providence, a modernization of Galilee in Narragansett, and Tidewater Stadium in Pawtucket,” McKee said.

McKee said the state has invested a quarter billion dollars into the housing crisis.

He said there are over 1,600 homes in the works. The Down Payment Assistance program has helped over 1,500 Rhode Islanders buy their first home.

The State of the State will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the State House.
