Meet the Candidates: Gabe Amo

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — ABC 6 News spoke with Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District special election Gabe Amo on Thursday.

Amo, who grew up in Pawtucket, worked for former Gov. Gina Raimondo as Director of Public Engagement and Community Affairs, and also served as the Deputy Director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Assistant to the President for President Joe Biden.

“I started at zero percent, but what I did is what voters expect: it’s having conversations at every setting. At the doors, at events, on the phones, and certainly telling my story. My story is a Rhode Island story,” Amo said. “I have communicated my message, shared my values, and I think that’s resonating with Rhode Islanders.”

The special election for the 1st Congressional District seat to replace former Rep. David Cicilline will take place on Sept. 5.
