FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River is moving forward with plans for a recall election to potentially replace mayor Jasiel Correia.

The city council will meet on January 2 to set the date for the election, should the mayor not step down.

Last week Correia filed an objection, after the board certified more than 4,000 signatures needed to prompt a recall election.

Correia is facing federal charges for defrauding investors.
