Memorial to be held to remember 100 victims of Station Nightclub fire on 19-year anniversary

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE)- Sunday marks the 19-year anniversary of the Station Nightclub fire, which killed 100 people in 2003.
The West Warwick night club fire claimed 100 lives, and left over 200 people injured.
Station Fire Memorial Park will be lit up at 6 p.m. on Sunday by Stanley Tree Service, as well as first responders.
The fire broke out on February 20, 2003 after the rock band “Great White” set off pyrotechnics. The flammable, sound-proof insulation on the club’s walls and ceilings went up in flames, quickly sparking a fast moving fire that remains one of the deadliest in U.S. history.
The band’s tour manager was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to 100 counts of manslaughter.
The two club owners, the Derderian brothers, were also punished. One was sent to prison and the other was sentenced to probation.
