East Providence Police have arrested two Connecticut men following a home break-in and police chase Wednesday

Police say Maurice Youmans, 38, of Waterbury and Lyle Solsbury, 40, of Naugatuck, broke into a house on Church Street and stole various items totaling under $2,000.

The homeowner called 911 after his security app alerted him that an intruder was on his property.

By the time police arrived, the suspects left. Authorities later located the SUV in question nearby and a short chase ensued, before the men got away into Providence. They later came back to East Providence and police caught them on the Henderson Bridge. The car had stolen Massachusetts license plates covering Connecticut plates.

Youmans has an extensive criminal history, including burglaries in Connecticut, New York, Florida and South Carolina. Solsbury has a firearms charge from Connecticut.

A judge arraigned Youmans and Solsbury Thursday on numerous charges, including conspiracy and breaking and entering, out of East Providence, Cranston and Foster. He set bail at $60,000 surety. They are scheduled to appear in court again October 13.

At least seven police departments in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts are looking to nab Youmans and Solsbury for break-ins from the past week.
