“Menagerie” of animals surrendered to MSPCA-Angell’s adoption center
BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)- 40 new animals call Boston their home as they were surrendered from a Worcester county home, and they are calling for adopters to see their new residents.
23 chickens, seven ducks, eight rabbits, and two cats make up the list of adoptable pets, and officials are hoping to find them homes quickly.
The rabbits range from one to two years old, and described as friendly and social. The chickens, seven of them roosters, and ducks, are currently living at the MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen. The two cats have both been adopted.
“We’re really keen to place the chickens and the ducks ahead of the Holidays because waterfowl adoption tends to wane during the winter months, and finding homes for roosters is challenging at any time of the year,” said Rachel Diersen, equine and farm animal program supervisor at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm. “The number of homes for chickens and waterfowl tend to be fewer than for dogs and cats—so my hope is that by getting this news out we’ll identify people who may not have adopted from us before.”
All of the animals available are in good health.
