Mendon Road reconstruction project to begin in Woonsocket
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced that the Rhode Island Department of Transportation will begin a large-scale reconstruction project on the sidewalks along Mendon Road.
Officials said the project will begin during the week of September 25, and continue until November 2024. The project will cover stretches of Mendon Road from the intersections of Cumberland Hill Road through Diamond Hill Road.
Through the rest of the fall season, RIDOT will prepare the road for construction during the 2024 paving season. Work this fall will include curb-cutting, wheelchair ramp replacement, ADA compliance enhancements, utility adjustments and sidewalk restorations where they’re necessary.
Road preparation work is expected to conclude in November of this year.
The city said police officers will be on site to monitor traffic but officials don’t expect road closures or detours.
