PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A new bill aims to give teachers the freedom to say "Merry Christmas" in Rhode Island classrooms.
Representative Patricia Morgan along with members of the house minority will introduce this legislation in 2017.
If passed, this law will allow schools across the state to educate students about the history of many different winter celebrations, and allow staff to say "Merry Christmas," "Happy Hanukah," and "Happy Holidays."
The law is modeled after a similar one in Texas called "The Merry Christmas Law."
