Middle School custodian charged with indecent exposure

MIDDLETOWN, R.I (WLNE) – A Gaudet Middle School custodian was charged with indecent exposure following a field hockey game between Salve Regina and Endicott College. 

Salve Regina was hosting opponent Endicott College at the Gaudet Middle School for a women’s field hockey game on Saturday, October 19. 

According to police, during the game, it was reported that several Endicott player’s belongings appeared to be rummaged through in the women’s locker room.

One athlete on the Endicott team later discovered that a picture of male genitalia, had been taken with her phone during the time of the game, police said. 

The incident had been reported to the department by the Salve Regina Director of Office Saftey and Security, on Tuesday, October 22. 

During the course of the investigation, police identified the suspect as 22-year-old Eric Diniz, who was employed as a custodian at the time of the incident. 

Police say there have been no additional reports by any other athletes and it appears to be an isolated incident. 

Diniz was charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct – Indecent Exposure and he was issued to appear in Newport County District Court on November 8, 2019.
