MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Middletown Fire Department said one person was taken to the hospital after they drove into a building’s support beam Wednesday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m. Middletown crews responded to East Main Road for reports of a car into a building.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a three-car accident, with one car that drove into a support beam outside the former GameStop.

Fire officials said the car struck two parked vehicles, then collided with a structural column that supports the building.
