Mild Friday and Saturday, warming up Sunday

Temps next week make a run for 90 degrees

We had a fantastic afternoon yesterday – lots of sunshine, low humidity, and seasonable temperatures. Yesterday’s high in Providence was 80, and today looks to be pretty much a carbon copy. Expect plenty of blue skies this afternoon, with temperatures topping out around 80 inland and the mid 70s along the South Coast with a light seabreeze. If you enjoyed yesterday and today’s forecast, I think you’ll enjoy tomorrow’s forecast too. Saturday is once again a copy and paste kind of day, just a few degrees warmer.

By the way, if you get a chance to get outside this evening, you’ll be able to see August’s full moon – the Sturgeon Moon! The Sturgeon Moon gets its name from an abundance of fish such as sturgeon caught in the Great Lakes around this time of year. Viewing this evening (and tomorrow evening) will be ideal with mostly clear skies. If you’re headed out tonight or tomorrow night, a light jacket may be a good idea with low temperatures in the 50s.

We turn up the heat and humidity on Sunday, with high temperatures in the upper 80s. By Tuesday, we could make a run for 90 in Providence – with humidity increasing further midweek. There is also good agreement in a lot of the weather models that these above-average temperatures continue into mid-August.

And some good news for your lawns and gardens as we head into the weekend – we finally have a chance for (rather limited) rain in the forecast once again! Expect some shower activity to develop Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Until then, they may need a good watering this weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!
