Mild weekend ahead, but it ends with a potent storm system
In addition to 1-2" of rain, damaging wind gusts are possible, especially at the shore
The upcoming weekend will feature warmer weather, but it will end with a fairly significant storm system that will likely make Monday morning’s commute a mess.
Saturday will be dry and mild with partly sunny skies, high temperatures in the low 50s. Sunday starts innocently enough with some breaks of sun, but clouds will quickly increase.
Despite the threat of a few late afternoon showers, temperatures will approach 60 degrees. it will start turning breezy by sundown as well.
The worst weather will come in between 3am and 9am. During this window, expect wind-driven downpours. Gusts inland will range from 30-50 mph, and could top 60 at the shore.
Take the opportunity of the nicer weather to prepare for the storm, including cleaning gutters and leaves, and tying down any loose holiday decorations.
We also have a coastal flood watch for coastal Rhode Island as well for Monday morning high tide times.
Weather will improve quickly on Monday morning, with some clearing as we head through the rest of the day. The remainder of the week looks seasonably chilly but quiet.
