Milder days for Southern New England
15 out of 16 December days have had below-average high temperatures… but that all changes today! We’ll see temperatures at or even above average this afternoon, with most of us in the mid 40s. That said, it’ll be a windy day with gusts in the 20s and 30s, making it feel like the upper 30s at times. We’ll also have a mix of clouds and sun.
Thursday will be mostly to partly sunny and even milder, with highs around 50 degrees in the afternoon!
Friday will be the warmest day of the week. However, Friday will also be the most troublesome day as a strong storm moves into Southern New England very early in the morning. Showers and some heavy rain begin around midnight, though at that point precipitation will be sporadic. As we head to the morning commute (6, 7, 8 AM) rain picks back up, heavy at times. We may even hear an isolated rumble of thunder. Winds will be strong as well, with gusts into the 30s and 40s. Stay weather aware, and definitely leave some extra time for that morning commute!
Saturday things calm down and cool off. We’ll be mostly sunny and near 40 in the afternoon.
Sunday, a weak front moves through Southern New England. This will bring some more clouds and a breeze as well (gusts in the low 20s). Highs will be in the mid 40s.
