Minor mix to snow tonight, followed by a warmer and wet stretch

PROVIDENCE R.I. (WLNE) — Light snow is falling across the area tonight, but having trouble sticking with surface temperatures a few degrees above freezing.

As colder temperatures settle in overnight, a few inches could accumulate on colder surfaces, the best chance being away from the shoreline.

Snow will taper off by morning with a few lingering mixed showers as temperatures rise.

Wednesday will be damp with a few light rain showers with steadier rain working in by Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday.

Another wave of rain moves in for Friday morning before we finally catch a break through Saturday. Highs will reach near 50 on Thursday and as high as the mid 50s on Friday.

Unfortunately, more rain returns for Saturday night into Sunday, possibly ending as snow early on Monday before brighter and colder weather builds in for next week.
