Missing autistic child found safe

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A search was called off Friday evening at Riverside Park after a 13-year-old was found safe.

According to police, around 5 p.m., officers responded to a report that an autistic child had gone missing.

ABC6 News learned a caretaker had been looking after three children, and after looking away for a moment, the 13-year-old had wandered off.

Police say the boy was found at Merino Park; very cold, but otherwise unharmed.

He was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
