MLB to add statistics from Negro Leagues

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Major League Baseball is now updating history by including statistic from the Negro Leagues.

Black baseball leagues excelled in the league for many years, and according to Commissioner Rob Manfred, these leagues produced many of the game’s best players against a backdrop of injustice.

Some of those players took to the diamond in Rhode Island, and local Documentarian Fancis Leazes shared part of their story in his film, Black Baseball in Rhode Island.

He sat down with ABC6 news to talk about the importance of the new inclusion.

You can learn more about the film here.
