More than 200 gallons of oil spilled in New Bedford Harbor

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Fire Department and United States Coast Guard said that 216 gallons of oil were spilled in New Bedford Harbor on Sept. 9.

The Coast Guard said the spill occurred when an offshore supply vessel was conducting an “internal fuel transfer.”

The spill was contained via a containment boom and absorbent pads.
