Mosquitoes in Blackstone test positive for West Nile

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WLNE) — Mosquitoes in Blackstone have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The Town of Blackstone and the Blackstone Board of Health reported that the state Department of Public Health had confirmed that a collection of mosquitoes from a surveillance site had tested positive in a recent community alert.
“The Board of Health, Board of Selectmen and the town administration are taking precautionary measures to have the Southeast quadrant of Blackstone sprayed for mosquitoes,” stated the alert.
The Central Mass Mosquito Control Project will spray on Friday, July 19, after 8:30 p.m.
Officials are urging residents to use repellant and wear protective clothing during the evening or early morning hours.
