Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile in Blackstone
BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WLNE) — The Town of Blackstone and the Blackstone Board of Health have reported that the state Department of Public Health has confirmed that a collection of mosquitoes from a surveillance site in Blackstone has tested positive again for West Nile Virus.
Officials said they are taking precautionary measures to have the impacted area sprayed for mosquitoes.
A collection of mosquitos tested positivein the area back in July.
According to a release, The Central Mass Mosquito Control Project will spray on Friday, Aug. 16, after 8:30 p.m.
This is the same type of spraying in targeted areas using the pesticide etofenprox that has been performed in the town recently.
