Mosquitos in Attleboro test positive for West Nile virus

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The City of Attleboro said the West Nile virus was detected in mosquitos in Attleboro on July 29.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health shared the following precautions to protect against mosquitos:

  • Apply bug repellent with DEET, permethrin, picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
  • Wear long-sleeves, long pants, and socks to keep mosquitos away from your skin
  • Be aware of peak mosquito hours, which is from dusk to dawn
  • Drain standing water near your home to prevent mosquitos from breeding
  • Install or repair screens in your home
