Mother hit with bottle, carjacked in North Dartmouth

A Fall River man is accused of carjacking a mother who was waiting for her son to get out of work.

Police say the 38-year-old New Bedford woman was waiting for her son in the Best Buy parking lot on Faunce Corner Road in North Dartmouth  when she said a suspect approached her vehicle.

The victim told police he forced his way in the vehicle and struck her in the head with a bottle before driving off.

Police were able to locate the suspect, 47-year-old Jeffery Shawn Link, in New Bedford.

He was charged with Armed Carjacking, A&B with a Dangerous Weapon, Threats to Commit a Crime, and Assault to Maim.

The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
