Mother of Providence artist seeks information on son’s killer, $25k reward offered

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — It has been over three years since a father of four was shot and killed in Providence, and, still, no arrests have been made.

Now, a very large reward is being offered to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest.

Kimmie Mann, the mother of 27-year-old Dante Mann, said she was surprised to get a call last week from an anonymous person offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of her son’s killer.

Nearly three and a half years after Dante was killed, Kimmie remains in disbelief and filled with sadness.

“Its heartbreaking,” Mann said. “Dante was my youngest son. I have four sons, and he was my baby, so it was very heartbreaking to get the news.”

Dante would be 31 this August but was shot in October of 2020 while filming a music video on Gallup Street in Providence.

The music video was a tribute to his cousin, who was shot and killed on that same street in 2018.

“I guess there was a large group of people there too, and gunfire shot out back and forth between a group of a lot of people,” Mann said. “And, unfortunately, my son was the one who got hit, and he was driven to Rhode Island Hospital.”

Providence police said Dante was pronounced dead upon arrival to the hospital.

Kimmie describes her son as having a heart of gold, a father of four, and a talented artist going by the name SOS DMann.

October 2024 will mark four years since the homicide, and no arrests have been made by Providence police.

“It makes me very angry that, three years later, somebody is running around and they don’t want to say something,” Mann said. “That’s what hurts the most, knowing that the person is out there and they don’t want to say something.”

Mann was surprised when she got the call last week from an anonymous donor offering $25,000 for any information about who killed Dante.

Information provided must lead to an arrest and conviction.

“If anybody knows anything, please, please come forward and help me get justice for my son,” Mann pleaded.

If you know anything about who shot and killed Dante, you are asked to call the Providence Police Department at (401) 272-3121, and ask for the Cold Case Unit.

Callers can stay anonymous.
