Mount Pleasant Academy receives over $800k in federal funding

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Thursday morning, U.S. Rep. Magaziner celebrated nearly one million in federal funding to rehabilitate Mount Pleasant Academy.

This $803,100 grant will be used to upgrade the facility for students who cannot attend public schools due to emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric needs.

Among the improvements are the expanding the academy’s sensory room, renovations to the kitchen area, extending training, and the replacement of aging infrastructure.

This federal funding, secured by Rep. Magaziner, is among 15 community project grants for the Rhode Island FY 2024 federal budget.
