MSP says one person dead after crash on Route 495 in Taunton

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said one person died after a serious crash on Route 495 South in Taunton on Monday.

60-year-old Michael Sarnie, of Mansfield, died from his injuries related to the crash, according to police.

Just after 10:45 a.m., troopers were dispatched to mile marker 24 for reports of a crash involving a tractor trailer and a box truck.

According to police, Sarnie was pronounced dead on scene.

The other driver was not injured.

Taunton Fire and EMS, Bristol Detective Unit, Crime Scene Services, and Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section also responded to the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
